Good habits – ‘A Fibonacci Sequence’

Before you google to see what ‘Fibonacci sequence’ means, let me give you an easy way out.

“It is a sequence characterized by the fact that every number after the first two is the sum of the two preceding ones”.

1,1,2,3,5,8,13,21,34,55,89,144, ….

To put it in a simpler way, it can be said that every number in the Fibonacci sequence is powered by its predecessors. Isn’t it?

Here is a beautiful analogy for you to consider.

When you dive deeper into your lives, you can easily see this Fibonacci mechanism in action. Let’s see how.

As we know that our quality of life is nothing but our quality of good habits. The things we repeatedly do are “Our habits”.  We don’t own a good habit until we keep on doing it for certain amount of time (It could be 21 days or 30 days).

The 1st day of you trying a good habit is always the toughest. However, on the 2nd day, you will feel it a little easier to do. On the 3rd consecutive day, even easier. What is going on here? Why does the human body act like this? The reason is simple – Every single day you try to embrace that good habit into you, you are actually powering your efforts for the next day.

So, if you do it on the 1st day it is eventually helping you to feel easier to do on the 2nd day. Similarly, you doing it on the second day is helping you to feel easier to do on the 3rd day, so on and so forth.

Imagine you doing it on the 30th day – [it implies that all the efforts you have put in for the last 29 days are going to power up your 30th-day efforts – a Fibonacci sequence].

This is the reason why there is a saying that – it takes 30 days to build up a good habit. Nothing fancy. Its ‘Mathematics’.
